- Three medium-sized potatoes, peeled and cut into fairly large cubes
- Two bunches of fresh spinach leaves, pick the leaves only and wash them thoroughly.
- Two finely chopped onions
- 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- One ripe tomato, diced
- One teaspoon of grated ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (to taste)
- Salt to taste
- Vegetable oil to taste

Boil or steam the potato pieces until half cooked, remove and drain. Briefly boil the spinach leaves in a little boiling water for 1 to 2 minutes, remove immediately, then squeeze out the water and chop roughly.
