🛒 Ingredients

  • The main ingredient:
  • 250 grams of dried chickpeas, soak overnight then boil until soft
  • Two finely chopped onions
  • 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • One piece of ginger, finely grated
  • Four ripe tomatoes, pureed
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 150 to 200 ml water or vegetable stock
  • Spices:
  • One teaspoon cumin powder 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • One teaspoon of garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black cumin powder (optional)
  • Salt and a little coconut sugar to taste
  • A pinch of lime juice to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for sprinkling

    Heat the oil and sauté the onions until they soften and turn brown. Add the garlic and ginger and sauté briefly until fragrant.

    Add all the ground spices, stirring quickly to prevent burning. Add the finely chopped tomatoes and cook until the tomatoes break down and the oil separates from the spices.

    Add the boiled chickpeas, pour in the water/stock, and stir well. Cook over low heat, covered, for 20 to 25 minutes, until the spices are fully absorbed and the sauce thickens.

    Add salt, sugar, lime juice, and garam masala at the end of cooking. Adjust the seasoning.

    Remove, sprinkle with fresh coriander leaves, serve warm with rice or bread, your special dish is ready to be enjoyed!
