🛒 Ingredients
- 100 grams of rice (basmati rice or regular rice), wash thoroughly
- 80 grams of peeled or whole green beans
- One piece of ginger, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
- 1/2 onion, finely sliced
- One tomato, diced (optional)
- 700 to 800 ml water or vegetable stock
- One tablespoon of vegetable oil or vegetable samin oil
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder (According to your taste)
- Salt to taste
- A little black pepper
- Chopped fresh coriander leaves as a complement
- A little lime juice
- Stir-fry additional spices (if desired)

Heat the spices: heat the oil, add the cumin seeds until they pop. Troop onions, ginger, garlic, saute until fragrant

Add the main ingredients: add the rice and mung beans, stir briefly. Add the turmeric, chili powder, salt, and tomatoes, if using.

Cook until done: pour in the water/stock, stir well. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, cover the pan, and cook for 20 minutes until the rice and mung beans are completely tender and combine into a soft, chewy texture.

Seasoning: Taste and adjust salt or seasoning. Stir gently.

Serve: Sprinkle with coriander leaves and lime juice, enjoy warm with pickle or papadum!
