Langos
Enjoy Hungary's most popular street snack, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and incredibly appetizing in a 100% plant-based version! Langos is a bread dough that is fried until golden brown and then smeared with savory garlic, topped with vegetable cream sauce, grated vegetable cheese, and can be added with spicy sauce to taste. Without eggs, animal milk, or dairy products, this dish still maintains a tender texture and rich flavor, perfect for a hearty snack or a delightful main course!

🛒 Ingredients
- 250 grams of all-purpose flour
- One teaspoon of instant yeast
- One teaspoon of granulated sugar (to feed the yeast)
- 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
- 150 to 170 ml warm water or warm vegetable milk
- One tablespoon of vegetable oil
- Enough cooking oil for frying
- 2 cloves of garlic, crushed and mixed with a little water/oil
- Vegetable cream sauce or vegan mayonnaise
- Vegetable grated cheese
- Chili sauce or tomato sauce (optional)
- Chopped chives for sprinkling
👩🍳 Instructions
- 1
Make the dough: Mix the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add the warm liquid and oil, kneading until the dough is smooth, elastic, and not sticky. Cover with a clean cloth, let stand in a warm place for 40 to 60 minutes until doubled in size.
- 2
Langos shape: divide the dough into 3-4 parts, flatten each part into an oval or round shape, slightly thin with a slightly thicker center.
- 3
Frying: heat enough oil in a deep frying pan. Fry each piece of dough one by one over medium heat until both sides are golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain the oil.
- 4
Serve: While warm, drizzle the garlic mixture over the top, top with the vegetable cream sauce, sprinkle with grated cheese, and add any other sauces or toppings to taste! Your dish is ready to be enjoyed.
