🛒 Ingredients
- 500 grams of potatoes, peeled and cut into thick, long slices
- Sufficient cooking oil or use the grilling method
- 150 grams of vegetable cheese (can be fresh cheese in lump form, vegetable mozzarella cheese, or diced fermented tofu)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or vegan butter
- 2 tablespoons of flour or cornstarch
- 400 ml savory vegetable stock
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon vegetable soy sauce or vegetable oyster sauce
- A pinch of salt and sugar to taste
- Finely sliced spring onions for sprinkling
👩🍳 Instructions
- 1
Make the fries: soak the potato pieces in cold water for 15 minutes to remove the starch, drain completely. Fry in hot oil until golden brown and crispy, then drain. Or bake in an oven at 200°C for 15 to 30 minutes, or until cooked through.
- 2
Make the sauce: heat the vegan butter in a pan, add the flour and stir well for 1 minute. Pour in the vegetable stock slowly while continuing to stir to prevent lumps. Add all the spices and cook over low heat until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth. Adjust the seasoning.
- 3
Assemble the poutine: Arrange the warm fries in a serving pan, sprinkle the plant-based cheese slices on top.
- 4
Serve: Drizzle with the hot sauce evenly to melt the cheese, sprinkle with chives, and enjoy while warm! Your dish is ready to be enjoyed!
